Vienna's motif for the visualisation of the city underground's “Round the clock service” brought a 2nd place prize for the city’s motif in the Rolling Board Creative Trophy 2010 which can be seen in Vienna's streets during the month of January.

As one of four award-winning submissions in this year's Gewista Rolling Board Creative Trophy the top-class jury were convinced by the “24 Hours” motif which yields a free rolling board campaign for creativity agency Friedl+partner GmbH and its client, the City of Vienna. Since the beginning of September 2010 the pictorial implementation of the newly launched 24 hour service of the Vienna underground lines will be visible throughout Vienna in January. And the team responsible for the “24 hour concept” can be very pleased with the lucrative Rolling Board Creative Trophy prize of publication in the rolling board network including production costs free of charge.

The rolling board theme will creatively implement and depict the course of a day from the morning, daytime until midnight on underground columns and rolling billboards. The motif will advise of the new Vienna underground night service at a total of 16 highly-frequented rolling board locations.

“Every year again and again we look forward to the many creative implementations in the Rolling Board Creative Trophy. The '24 hour' motif is quite rightly one of the best concepts. The picture language is easy to understand and the best possible use was made of the rolling board’s advantages. Very pleasing as well is that the subject is of high relevance to the citizens of Vienna. After all, the extended underground service will allow for more mobility at weekends in the city”, explains the Rolling Board Creative Trophy project manager and Gewista Customer Relations Supervisor, Susanne Benda.

Rainer Friedl, Creative Director Friedl+partner GmbH adds:“The exciting part about the Rolling Board Creative Trophy is that one must consciously distance oneself from the classic approach to billboard creation. The rolling board opens up totally new design possibilities – the carriers, the frames and rolling pictures can and must be seen as a whole. Only in this way will a harmonious end result occur that attracts the desired attention. A fantastic challenge! The fact that a prize can be won and rewarded with production and publication additionally increases the fun factor.”
